The former district of Mittelland was a subdivision of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland.
It was founded in 1877 by the division of the district before in the two parts of Mittelland and Vorderland. In 1995, the districts were formally abolished, but the regional structure lives on in many areas within the old district boundaries.
